Objective

Troubleshooting logs and a backup of the configuration can be exported from the maintenance mode in the event that the device cannot boot properly and a tech support file cannot be generated.

To export this data it is necessary to specify an SCP or TFTP server as the destination, and if one does not have a server at hand then the data can be directly uploaded via the TAC Upload service to an existing case number.

Once the data is uploaded it will not be visible under the case file section until your support engineer (case owner) makes the data available to be viewed publicly.

Environment

  • PAN Firewall or Panorama in maintenance mode
  • Any PAN-OS version
  • Must have an existing support case

Procedure

  1. Connect via the console port of the device.
  2. Select "Log Files" and press Enter.

    4. Password: <Primary Email Address> (Found under the case contact information in the support case)
    5. Leave the copy method set to SCP.
