Continue Action in URL filtering not working as expected

Created On 08/07/19 18:59 PM - Last Modified 02/05/25 22:59 PM

Symptom

Why is URL filtering not presenting a Block-continue page for each website in the URL category with Action "Continue".

Environment

  • Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Supported PAN-OS
  • URL Filtering

Resolution

  1. The blocked URL entries for users per category is cached (not per URL)
  2. For this reason, the user is not presented with block-continue page for each website in the same URL category
  3. The URL Continue Timeout configuration can be configured under Device> Setup> Content-ID> URL filtering.

    User-added image
  4. Once the timeout value has been reached, the user will be presented with a new block-continue page and must click Continue to further access to the URL.
