Default username and password of Admin-Admin Does Not Work After Factory Reset

Symptom


The default username/password of "Admin-Admin" does not work after Factory reset of the firewall.

Environment


  • Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Supported PAN-OS.
  • Factory reset.


Resolution


After a factory reset, the CLI console prompt transitions through following prompts before it is ready to accept admin/admin login:

An example on the PA-500 is shown below.

  1. 500 login:
  2. PA-HDF login:
  3. PA-500 login:

When the prompt displayed is #3, then the device is ready to accept the default username/password to allow login.

Note: Use Enter key few times to ensure the prompt is changed to PA-500 login:
