Question

Can a PAYG VM be upgraded or downgraded?

Answer

A PAYG VM is a pre-licensed VM which can be purchased from a cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Google Could Platform, Oracle).

With the PAYG license bundles, the firewall is prelicensed and ready for use as soon as you deploy it; you do not receive an auth code. When you stop or terminate the firewall from your Cloud console, PAYG licenses are suspended or terminated.

There is no auth code to carry VM capacity information thus a PAYG VM cannot be upgraded / downgraded.

If you need a VM with higher or lower capacity, terminate the PAYG VM with the cloud provider and purchase a new one with the required capacity.

If the instance type is changed on the PAYG VM, the VM License value on the dashboard will not show data and the VM would still function with the previous capacity.
