Unable to login to new firewall after initial setup with default username/password.

Question


  • Deployed a new PA-VM and started the Firewall.
  • Login prompt is displayed, but cannot login as admin user with default password, admin/admin. 
  • "Login incorrect" message is normally displayed.


Environment


  • Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Supported PAN-OS


Answer


  1. The login prompt is displayed even before all the background processes are fully initialized.
  2. Waiting for some more time will allow the processes to initialize.
  3. The suggestion is to wait for about 15 minutes, and try again.
