Objective
How to troubleshoot system boot failure of Firewall?
Environment
- Palo Alto Firewall
- PAN-OS 9.1.x and higher
Procedure
Things to check:
- Connect the console and check for any error messages. Refer hardware guide of the correct console connections.
- Troubleshoot and resolve the error message seen on console. Engage Support help if required.
- If no messages are seen on the console after power-reset, either the power supply or device is bad.
- Check the power supply LED status. Refer the hardware guide of the model for LED status.
- Check the Device status LEDs in the same hardware guide.
- Check if the Fans are operating fine.
- Reseat the power supplies.
- Try booting from the other partition (sysroot 0/ sysroot1) from maintenance mode.
- If the issue is after upgrade/reboot, Re-install/upgrade can be tried again from maintenance mode.
- FSCK check can help fix minor file corruption issue.
