Commit Warning: Disabled Applications in vsys

Symptom


Warning message "Disabled applications in vsys" is seen during the Commit process. The message will have the application information.

An example of such message is shown below. The disabled application name in this example is azure-govt-cloud-blob

Environment


  • Any PAN-OS.
  • Palo Alto Firewall.


Cause


The installation of new applications was disabled or an administrator manually disabled the applications for some specific reason.
 


Resolution


Enable the applications showing up in the commit warning. Enabling a specific application can be achieved by following the steps below:
  1. ​​​​​​GUI: Object  > Applications 
  2. In the Search section, type in the application seen under the warning message. In this case it is "azure-govt-cloud-blob". The application is displayed.
  3. Click on the application, the detailed window of the application is displayed as seen below.
  4. In the section of "App-ID Enabled", click on Enable to enable the application.
  5. Commit the changes. The application is now enabled and the error message should not be seen.
