Question
Does Panorama device that needs to be configured as dedicated log-collector, need device management license?
Environment
- Any Panorama.
- PAN-OS 7.1 and above
Answer
- Yes, Panorama dedicated log-collector (Logger-only) need to have "Device Management License".
- When converting a Panorama device to dedicated log-collector mode, we do a check to make sure that device management licenses are installed and the licensed number of managed devices is non-zero.
- Panorama in dedicated Log Collector mode requires only Device Management License for 25 devices regardless of the number of firewalls forwarding logs to it.
- If you have installed a larger license, you may work with your Palo Alto account team or the Palo Alto licensing team on moving the license to another Panorama appliance and installing the 25 Device Management License instead.
