Overview

In a High Availability (HA) active/passive configuration with devices that use 10 Gigabit SFP+ ports, during an HA state change from active to passive, the 10-Gigabit Ethernet port is taken down, then brought back up to refresh the port, but does not enable transmit until the device becomes active again.

Issue

If the neighboring device has monitoring software, it sees the port as flapping because it's going down, then up again. This is different behavior than the action with other ports, such as the 1-Gigabit Ethernet port, which is disabled and still allows transmit, so flapping is not detected by the neighboring device.

Resolution

This issue does not affect functionality.

Note: If a switch is configured to monitor the port flaps, it could detect the change and take action when the

device's SFP+ port flaps (going down and then up).
