WildFire Portal transitioning to Strata Cloud Manager
Symptom
We are excited to announce a major evolution in how you interact with the WildFire portal. We are transitioning from the legacy standalone WildFire portal to Strata Cloud Manager (SCM) - the modern, AI-powered, unified solution for network security management and operations.
What This Means for You:
- A Unified Experience: WildFire functionality across Customer Service Portal and the Wildfire Portal is now centralized in SCM, providing a single unified console for all Wildfire services.
- Stronger API Security: We are upgrading the Wildfire API infrastructure. To ensure the highest level of protection, we are transitioning from static API keys to a robust token-based authentication mechanism for Wildfire RESTful API calls.
Resolution
If you are utilizing the Wildfire Portal or the Wildfire RESTful API with Wildfire keys associated with your Next Generation Firewall devices or Prisma Access, you must transition to Strata Cloud Manager.
Steps to Transition to SCM
If you are not using Strata Cloud Manager (SCM) currently, activate SCM first and follow the steps outlined below. (Note: SCM Essentials license is available for all NGFW & Prisma Access customers at no cost).
If using SCM currently, follow the steps below:
- Associate available NGFW & Prisma SASE devices to the tenant
- Associate WF API keys to service accounts in SCM. All key functionality from Wildfire portal is now available in SCM (eg: submit samples, download reports)
- (optional) - Create alerts and additional user accounts if desired in SCM.
IMPORTANT: The standalone Wildfire Portal will be deprecated on Aug 31, 2026. The above steps to transition to SCM must be completed before this date.
If you are currently using the WildFire RESTful API in scripts/automated workflows, change the authentication method from API keys to secure tokens, following the steps below.
- After completing the steps outlined above for associating WildFire API keys to service accounts in SCM, copy API key from SCM and use it to generate short-lived secure tokens in your script, which is used to authenticate with Wildfire RESTful API. Refer to the technical documentation available here.
IMPORTANT: Either the current API keys or secure tokens may be used for Wildfire API authentication until Jan 15, 2027. After that date, only token based authentication will be supported for Wildfire API calls.
