When trying to bootstrap a firewall using SCM it fails with error "There is not wildfire license on the box"

Symptom


  • Strata Cloud Manager is used to Bootstrap a Firewall.
  • The bootstrap fails with error message "There is not wildfire license on the box"

SCM Bootstrap fails due to wildfire

Environment


  • SCM (Strata Cloud Manager)
  • NGFW

Cause


  • This error is due to the existing local configuration on the firewall.
  • The Bootstrap does not support the firewalls which contain existing configuration.
  • The Wildfire license is not required on the firewall for the SCM onboarding.

Resolution


  1. Reset the firewall to factory default settings, The local configuration must be removed completely.
  2. Then, the firewall can be onboarded to SCM without a Wildfire license.
