Question


  • Used memory in Management Plane (MP) is monitored via SNMP
  • The value of the corresponding SNMP OID (hrStorageUsed for Slot-1 Management Memory, 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6.20 or 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6.1020) is increased after upgrading PAN-OS.
  • What is the reason of increment?

  • Any Next-Generation Firewall models
  • PAN-OS 11.1.8 or later

Answer


  1. One of the reasons for this is the calculation method of Used memory in MP by the fix of PAN-271438.
  2. There could also be other reasons. 
  3. Review the other metrics relevant to the memory usage in mp-monitor.log (less mp-log mp-monitor.log) to check for other suspicious outputs.
