show system disk details

Environment

  • Panorama VM
  • Log Collector
  • Supported PAN-OS
  • Hyper-V

Cause

  • Software Issue. The issue will be fixed in the upcoming versions.
  • Tentatively the fix is targeted in 11.1.11, 11.2.8, 12.1.2 and 12.2.0 versions.

Resolution

The following is a workaround that can be used till the fix is released.

  • Change Panorama mode from "Management Mode" to "Panorama Mode" by adding 2TB Dynamic Hard disk.
  • Then replace 2TB Dynamic Hard disk with larger disk as per the requirement. Panorama supports up to 24TB of log storage.
  • Disk must be added using the steps shared below.

  1. Spin up Panorama (Default Mode is management mode).
  2. Shutdown panorama and Add 2TB disk on Panorama.
  3. Start Panorama and run below command to convert management to panorama mode.
    • >request system system-mode panorama
  4. Panorama will restart automatically once panorama changed from Management to Panorama mode.
  5. Verify the panorama mode status. It should convert to Panorama mode.
    • >show system info | match system-mode
  6. Verify the disk space details. One 2 TB disk available for use (1.7TB).
    •  >show system disk-space
  7. Shutdown panorama.
    • >request shutdown system
  8. Remove existing 2TB disk.
  9. Add new disk larger than 2TB (max 24TB).
  10. Start panorama and run the below command to add the disk.
    • >request system disk add “disk-name”
  11. Wait for disk addition to complete.
  12. Once disk addition completed verify the disk status. It should show the disk in disk-space command.
    • >show system disk-space
