How to configure Data Masking Policy in Prisma Browser?

Objective


To guide to proper configuration of Data Masking Policy in Prisma Browser.

 



Environment


**Product_versions**
• Prisma Browser (Talon)



Procedure


Step 1: Access Strata Cloud Manager

  • Go to HUB using your browser.

  • Ensure you have the appropriate administrative access.

Step 2: Open Prisma Browser 

  • From the applications main menu, click on Prisma Browser

  • If you are in Strata Cloud Manager click Manage > Configuration > Prisma Browser

Step 3: Go to Policy Configuration

  • Click on Policy > Rules

  • Under Access and Data Control 

    Choose to either:

    • Add a new policy rule, or

    • Modify an existing Access and Data Control Policy

Step 4: Configure Data Control Settings

  • In the When Contains section:

    • Select the "Specific content" radio button.

Step 5: Select Data Profiles or Patterns

  • Choose the appropriate Data Profiles or Data Patterns from the list.

    • These are predefined sets of sensitive data types (e.g., credit card numbers, PII).

Step 6: (Optional) Create Custom Content Types

  • If needed, go to the Data Patterns section to:

    • Create and define Custom Content Types for more tailored data matching.

Step 7: Save the Policy

  • Review your configuration.

  • Click Save to apply the changes to your policy.

 



Additional Information


Data Masking Known Limitations:

Prisma Browser does not mask inputs or links:
* Inputs - because it can corrupt data. 
* Links - because it breaks websites.
