'Upload only to device' option is not seen after Panorama upgrade to 11.0

Symptom


  • After Panorama upgrade to PAN-OS 11.0 or later, the option "Upload only to device (do not install)" disappears from Panorama > Device Deployment > Software > Install.Upload option (missing).png
  • In earlier releases, this option was visible.
  • Upload option.png

Environment


  • Panorama Appliances.
  • PAN-OS 11.0 and later.

Resolution


To upload software to firewalls without automatically installing it:
  1. Ensure that firewalls' dynamic updates and Licenses are retrieved under Panorama > Device Deployment > Dynamic Updates
    and Panorama > Device Deployment > Licenses
  2. Use the "Validate" option under Panorama > Device Deployment > Software > Validate.
  3. Select the type "software/content" by checking the "Deploy" checkbox.Validate.png
