Symptom

  • Cloud Services plugin gets downgraded from version 3.1 to an older version (i.e. 3.0 or 2.2).
  • Commit fails with error message "region-tag unexpected here

Environment

  • Panorama
  • PAN-OS 10.0 or higher
  • Cloud Services plugin 3.1, downgraded to earlier version (i.e. 3.0)

Cause

  • Starting with Cloud Services plugin version 3.1, Cloud Provider Redundancy feature is introduced.
  • Due to this change, plugin adds a "region-tag" with either PA-G (GCP) or PA-A (AWS) as an argument to every service connection onboarding config.
  • When plugin gets downgraded to an earlier version, this "region-tag" config does not get removed.
  • Since "region-tag" is only supported by plugin version 3.1 or later, after plugin downgrade commit fails with error "region-tag unexpected here".

Resolution

Revert to running (working) configuration. This can be done by following these steps:
  1. Navigate to Panorama tab
  2. Click on Setup
  3. Click on Operations tab
  4. Click on Revert to running Panorama configuration
