Objective


  • GlobalProtect App for Windows has two versions:
    • Regular client app installed using Windows MSI installer
    • Universal Windows Platform (UWP) client app installed via Microsoft Store
  • Users can install and use either the regular or the UWP version of the GlobalProtect App on Windows OS to connect with the GP Portal and Gateway.
  • Firewall GP Portal or Gateway administrator wants to know who is using which version of the Windows GP App


Environment


  • GlobalProtect App
  • GlobalProtect App for UWP
  • Windows 10
  • Windows 11


Procedure


  1. Under GUI: Monitor > Logs > GlobalProtect
  2. Click the down-arrow on any column heading (e.g. RECEIVE TIME), select Columns, and enable Client Version, Client OS Version, Client OS columns

  1. Type the query filter: ( eventid eq portal-auth ) or ( eventid eq gateway-auth ) and hit enter

In the above example:

  • The user1 successfully authenticated with the GP Portal (name: gp) and Gateway (name: GW) using the regular Windows GP App 5.2.10 version on Microsoft Windows 10 Client OS Version
  • The user2 successfully authenticated with the GP Portal (name: gp) using the WindowsUWP GP App 5.2.8 version on Microsoft Windows UWP Desktop 10 Client OS Version
