GlobalProtect App does not show popup page for SAML authentication after upgrade to GP 6.2

Symptom


  • GlolalProtact (GP) App upgraded to version 6.2.6.
  • After upgrade, the GP App does not show the popup page for SAML authentication.
  • When the user tries to connect GlobalProtect Portal, GP agent shows "Connecting..." and the popup page for authentication with browser is not displayed.
  • PanGPA.log shows "CPanSAMLViewOld" when GP is trying to use the old embedded browser.
    "CPanSAMLViewOld::OnDocumentComplete - a html page pop up, potential the SAML authentication login page."

Environment


  • Prisma Access Mobile Users
  • GlobalProtect App
  • Version 6.2.x

Cause


  • The issue is related to webview2runtime.
  • The behavior is expected if the user does not have webview2runtime installed on the device.

Resolution


  1. Download and Install the webview2.
  2. This is currently available on the Microsoft developer website. Since the link may change one can google it if the link is not working.
