Symptom

Following the migration guidelines from the Fixed VM to Flex VM license as outlined in the official guide (guide), and adjusting the licensed vCPUs as per the instructions found here, the firewall does not adjust the vCPU count as expected.

Environment

PA-VM

Cause

Firewall might be having issues fetching or applying the authcode

Resolution

  • Ensure that the deployment profile associated with your authcode is set to use the desired vCPU quantity
  • If any discrepancies are observed, modify the deployment profile accordingly
  • Re-license the firewall:
         1. Login to CLI
         2. delete license key <license.key>
         3. fetch the license from gui/cli
         4. Reboot
         5. Reapply Authcode: In some cases, simply reapplying the authcode and rebooting the firewall may resolve the               issue
