Question


  • In a HA setup, does the ION device failover when a critical process fails with Fatal error?
  • Example below: Alarms in GUI will be triggered as below screenshot.

Environment


  • Prisma SD-WAN
  • ION devices
  • High Availability (HA) Active/Backup setup

Answer


  • Yes, the failover will happen from Active to Backup  in case of Fatal error on a "critical process".
  • The failover will not happen if the error is on a "General Process".

Additional Information


  • The following example is when the failover does not happen due to General Process.
  • The alert triggered in GUI under Faults (Alarms) as DEVICESW_GENERAL_PROCESSSTOP, is a General process.
