Question
Does a GlobalProtect config refresh force a transition from 'Using Cached Portal Config' back to a fully 'Connected' status?
Environment
- Palo Alto Firewalls
- Supported PAN-OS
- GlobalProtect (GP) Portal
- GlobalProtect App Config Refresh Interval
- Using Cached Portal Config
Answer
- GP portal status is decided by it's first successful connection .
- Portal connection status shows Using Cached Portal Config.
- If the portal config is changed, GlobalProtect App Config Refresh Interval (default timer 24 hours) may partially apply the new config changes but it won't change the Portal status to Connected from initial status Using Cached Portal Config.
- The connection status can only be changed to Connected by performing the "refresh connection" to inherit a complete latest configuration.
