Question


What happens to the PAN-OS version running on the firewall after installing another version without rebooting?

  • Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Supported PAN-OS
  • Upgrade/Downgrade


Answer


  1. A firewall reboot is required after a PAN-OS upgrade or downgrade.
  2. If you choose not to reboot immediately after the installation, the installed PAN-OS stays in the memory,
  3. It does not take effect without a reboot.
  4. If another PAN-OS version is installed before the reboot, it overrides the previously installed version that is pending in the memory.
  5. Now the newly installed The PAN-OS version will be loaded when the firewall is rebooted.
