Question

How does a customer decommission a device in the Customer Support Portal?

Answer

In order to decommission a device in the Customer Support Portal, log into the Support Portal, select Products, then Assets.

Place a check mark next to the device or devices.

Under the License and Subscription option, you'll now see a Decommission Asset button. CLICK IT.

Select a reason from the drop down - Lost or Stolen or Customer Request.  Clicking the Decommission button will remove the serial number from licensing database.

Notes:
- only Production hardware devices can be decommissioned with the CSP tool
- Spare hardware devices cannot be decommissioned
- VMs have to be deactivated. The VM deactivation process is different for perpetual bundle license and for Software NGFW Credits VMs
- once Decommissioned, the device cannot be registered again
- contact Support if you accidentally Decommissioned a device. Provide the serial number, the purchase order in the case description. A recommission process may take some business days.
