Symptom


  • PA-5410 with a Custom URL object that has more than 25k URLs in it shows a warning during commit
Warning: URL List should have 25000 url patterns at most
  • Whereas as per the product specification, the total entries for allow list, block list and custom categories in the PA-5410 is 100k.

Environment


  • PA-5410 Firewalls
  • PAN-OS 10.2.x
  • Custom URL object with more than 25k URLs.

Cause


Capacity threshold warning set incorrectly for PA-5410 Firewalls.

Resolution


  1. The issue has been addressed under PAN-202872 in 10.2.4 and above releases
  2. Upgrade to the fixed versions will resolve the issue.
  3. The warning can be safely ignored  and additional URLs can be configured.
  4. Engage Support if there is a "commit failure" which may indicate other issues.
