Failed to Deploy Cortex XDR Broker VM on Hyper-V

Symptom


After unzipping the tar gz file of the Broker VM image (VHD file), Hyper-V deployment wizard encounters an error as per the below screenshot:

Environment


  • Broker VM
  • Microsoft Hyper-V
  • VHD (Azure) image
  • Cortex XDR

Cause


The issue is related to gzip when zipping up the image file.

Resolution


  1. Download the Broker VM VHD file/VHD (Azure) image from the cortex XDR (Reference Article: Configure the Broker VM )
  2. Unzip the downloaded .gz file
  3. Unzip the content one more time to get the actual VHD file

Additional Information


A similar issue is observed on VHD (Azure) image file as well. However, the error seems to be different than the Hyper-V. Please find the reference article Failed to Deploy Cortex XDR Broker VM in Azure
