SCP failure with Error: "Host key verification failed"

Symptom


  • Scheduled SCP reports fail with error "Host key verification failed"
  • Test from the CLI to the SCP server generates error message.
admin@M-200> test scp-server-connection initiate hostname <x.x.x.x> username <username> password <password>
Server error : No RSA host key is known for <host-name> Host key verification failed.

 

Environment


  • Palo Alto Firewalls and Panorama
  • Supported PAN-OS
  • SCP (Secure Copy)

Resolution


  1. The issue is fixed in PANOS version 11.0.0 or PANOS version 10.2.4
  2. Upgrade to the fixed PAN-OS versions will resolve the issue.
  3. If a workaround is needed, contact "support " and provide the article number
