Prisma Cloud Compute: Getting error=archive/tar: invalid tar header When Restoring a backup of Prisma Cloud Compute

Symptom


When trying to restore a backup of the Prisma Cloud Compute console you get the following error 
route_handler.go:10051 Operation failed: uri=/api/v1/backups/<filename>.tar.gz/restore?project=Central+Console; error=archive/tar: invalid tar header

Environment


Prisma Cloud Compute (Self-Hosted): 21.04 or later

Cause


The cause of this error is that the backup was taken from a different browser and a different browser was used to upload it back to the Prisma Cloud console.
 

Resolution


To Resolve this please follow the steps below:
  • Export the backup from the Prisma Cloud Compute console from the Google Chrome browser
  • The console will generate a backup with the following name
daily-22.06.179-1661362313.tar.gz
  • Rename the backup file like the following (in this example we are using console version 22.06.179):
<YOUR-NAME>-22.06.179-1661362313.tar.gz
  • Restore the backup from the Google Chrome browser from which the backup was taken
  • Restart the console pod or container
