There are three different places where Dynamic Updates can be configured in Panorama. What are the differences and what is each one for?

There are 3 Dynamic Update screens in Panorama

  1. [ Panorama > Dynamic Updates ]: Meant to deploy Content metadata that is consumable by Panorama.
  2. [ Templates > Device > Dynamic Updates ]: Meant to instruct each Firewall to "Fend for itself" by fetching its own Dynamic Updates.
  3. [ Panorama > Device Deployment > Dynamic Updates ]: Meant to be used in environments where firewalls do not have connectivity to the internet and are not able to fend for themselves. This option converts Panorama into a central Dynamic Update repository. Panorama downloads the Dynamic Update packages and pushes Content updates down to managed devices.
