Symptom


  • Check the below error in PanGPHip.log
Error( 114): 03/16/22 08:16:47:289 CheckRegistry(): error 5(P14528-T2972)Debug( 47): 03/16/22 08:16:47:289 HipCustomCheck(): check registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Duo Security\DuoCredProv completed. Exist: no, Value: (null)

 

Environment


  • Existing Global Protect infrastructure
  • Custom Hip Check registry key
  • Window endpoint

Cause


  • Error 5 means "access denied". The level of access that was requested when trying to open the registry key is not granted to the current user

Resolution


  • Confirm the user has the proper permission to read the custom registry key
