How to uninstall GlobalProtect Agent software completely in Windows

Objective


This is a general information relevant to the procedure to uninstall GP Agent software including the relevant registry keys and data for users in Windows client.

Environment


  • GlobalProtect Agent for Windows


Procedure


  1. Disable WMI services : Run - services.msc - Windows Management Instrumentation(WMI) - stop the service.
  2. Delete the files under C:\Windows\System32\wbem\Repository
  3. Open "regedit" and delete "Palo Alto Networks" folder in following places:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software
    • (if the same folder is present in any other user under HKEY_USERS)
  4. Uninstall GlobalProtect from Windows 'Program and Features' or 'Apps and Features'.
  5. Make sure that the virtual adapter in not present in the Network adapter settings.
  6. Make sure that the following folders are not present. If no, delete those folders.
    • C:\Program Files\Palo Alto Networks\GlobalProtect
    • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Palo Alto Networks\GlobalProtect
  7. Reboot the machine.
  8. Reinstall GlobalProtect with admin privileges.
  9. Confirm that WMI service is running.
