Nutanix Plugin Times Out While Retrieving Information From Prism Central

Symptom


  • Configuring the Nutanix plugin on Panorama with the Prism Central details
  • Initiate the action "Synchronize Dynamic Objects" under GUI: Panorama > Plugins > Nutanix > Monitoring Definition,
  • The process fails with the error: "Exception encountered when retrieving tags for Prism Read timed out. (read timeout=30)"

Environment


  • Any Panorama
  • Supported PAN-OS
  • Nutanix plugin 1.0.0

Cause


  • The Nutanix plugin is hard-coded to timeout after 30 seconds of initiating the synchronization process.
  • In larger Nutanix deployment, this limit is sufficient to relay all the information from Nutanix to Panorama.

Resolution


  1. Starting from Plugin 1.0.1, the timeout value will be increased to 60 seconds which should be sufficient to get the required response from Nutanix.
  2. Update the Plugin to version 1.0.1
