Symptom


  • Traffic not passing through the right Path/QoS policy.
  • Flow details confirm application is detected as "Akamai CDN" and not the correctly configured application.

Environment


  • Cloudgenix/Prisma SD-WAN
  • All ION devices
  • Custom/System App

Cause


  • App is hosted in Akamai.
  • Due to this, the DNS response is resolving for Akamai
  • So the ION is detecting the alt-app as Akamai.
  • After the initial packets, the ION device will classify the app as L7 custom app, but the Flow Control will ignore this because the app is already detected as Akamai App.

Resolution


  1. Configure a L3/L4 App with the Destination IP setting.
  2. This will ensure the application is classified correctly thereby matching the correct policy.
