How to resolve certificate warning "NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID" after enabling secure web-GUI access to firewall/Panorama

Objective


This article shows how to resolve the certificate warning "NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID" after configuring secure web-GUI access

Environment


  • Any PAN-OS version
  • Panorama appliance 


Procedure


  1. Regenerate the server certificate and specify the IP attribute value to match the Common Name in the certificate.
  2. If the Common Name is set to FQDN, the IP attribute should match the IP address resolved by the FQDN.

Note: if you are using an externally signed certificate, ensure that the IP attribute is set while generating the certificate before importing it into the firewall.
