Running Configuration Sync is not working between HA pair.

Symptom


  • Task bar shows the Sync is completed successfully.

  • Created a dummy change 
  • Initiated HA Sync from the primary as it was not doing it by itself 
  • Task bar on the passive FW shows the sync was success but the config was not syncing 

Environment


PA-32xx
PAN-OS 9.1.x and latter 

Resolution

  1. Suspend the primary and fail over to the passive firewall.
  2. From the passive firewall create a dummy change and commit. 
  3. while the Primary is in suspended state initiate a sync from the newly active firewall.
  4. Finally fail back to the Primary firewall and make a dummy change and confirm the config is syncing with out any issue.
