Application page doesn't load via clientless VPN Portal after upgrading the firewall to 10.2.x

Symptom


  • Application accessed through clientless VPN portal doesn't load after the pan-OS upgraded to 10.2.X
  • It works fine on the firewall running pan-OS 9.1.X

Environment


  • GlobalProtect clientless VPN Portal
  • Pan-OS 10.1.2 and above

Cause


The issue is caused by gzip encoding which was introduced in 10.1.2

Resolution


  1. Use the gzip controller which was introduced since 10.1.8 to turn off the gzip encoding feature.
  2. Run the below command to turn off the gzip encoding feature.
> debug global-protect portal clientlessvpn gzip-encoding off
> debug global-protect portal clientlessvpn gzip-encoding show
