Unable to download wildfire dynamic update with only Advanced wildfire License

Symptom


  • Firewall has "Advanced Wildfire License" as seen under "GUI: Device > Licenses"
  • When trying to check for upgrades, "Server error : There is not wildfire license on the box" is displayed
admin@Lab> request wildfire upgrade check
Server error : There is not wildfire license on the box

Environment


  • Palo Alto Firewall
  • PAN-OS 10.2.2
  • Advanced Wildfire License (AWF)

Cause


Advanced Wildfire License validity check missing when only AWF license is available on the system

Resolution


  1. The issue is being worked under PAN-223212 and fix  is targeted in PAN-OS 10.2.11 and 11.1.0
  2. The workaround is to use Wildfire license
  3. Contact the Customer Support Team if a trial license is needed for Wildfire.
