Objective
This article explains how to access the firewall after enabling FIPS-CC mode for the first time.
Environment
- Palo Alto Firewall
- PAN-OS 9.1 and above
- FIPS-CC mode
Procedure
Follow the steps below to access the firewall using SSH/GUI
- Establish connectivity with the Palo Alto Networks Firewall by connecting an Ethernet cable between the Management interface and the laptop's Ethernet interface
- Configure the laptop Ethernet interface with an IP address within the 192.168.1.0/24 network. By default, the Palo Alto Networks Firewall IP is set to 192.168.1.1
- To access from the browser, open a web browser and navigate to the URL https://192.168.1.1. At this point, the Palo Alto Networks Firewall login page appears
- To access via SSH, navigate to the terminal app and log in using the IP 192.168.1.1 on port 22
- Now change the management IP address of the firewall from any of the sessions to match your internal network.
