Symptom


Firewalls with AWS CloudWatch  is not showing metrics  in CloudWatch.

Environment


  • Palo Alto VM based firewall
  • Deployment: AWS
  • Supported PAN-OS

Cause


When default namespace(VMseries) is used on the firewall cloud setup, it does not reflect the metrics.

Resolution


  1. Log in to the web interface on the VM-Series firewall
  2. Select GUI: Device >VM-Series
  3. In AWS CloudWatch Setup, click edit and  Enable CloudWatch Monitoring
  4. Change the default  VM series namespace to any like VM series1 and do a commit.
