Unable to download new Palo Alto Networks Content Update with "cp: cannot stat 'global/2.1.0/global_app.xml': No such file or directory" error

Symptom
- When trying to download and install new content updates, the below error is seen in the GUI
Failed to update content with following message: cp: cannot stat 'global/2.1.0/global_app.xml': No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat 'global/2.1.0/global_threat.xml': No such file or directory
rm: cannot remove '/opt/pancfg/mgmt/updates/oldav/cache/*': No such file or directory
rpm/pubkeys/*.key
- The same error is seen if the content files are pushed from the Panorama to the firewalls.
Environment
- Any standalone and Panorama-managed firewalls
- PAN-OS 9.1,10.1
- Content Update
Cause
- One of the reason for this error is when there are temporary issues in the content cache of the firewall.
- Refer "additional section" to check similar issue related to disk space.
Resolution
Run the below commands to clear the old cache in the firewall and rebuild the content database
> delete content cache old-content
> debug swm rebuild-content-DB
NOTE: This will not have any impact on the traffic passing through the firewall.
