Symptom
After upgrade of Panorama to 10.1.8, the managed-devices license capacity changes.
Environment
- Any Panorama
- PAN-OS upgrade to 10.1.8
Cause
- The issue is seen on devices which had an upgrade or change of license.
- Such devices may have two device management license keys existing at the same time.
- During the reboot after the upgrade, when the configd process boots up, it loads the first read license key file instead of the latest issued license key
- Sometimes the old license key which is still not expired can cause the managed-devices capacity to be lower/different from the expected number.
Resolution
- Log on to the Panorama via SSH.
- Delete old license device management license key as mentioned in the steps below:
- List the current installed license files by running the command delete license key
> delete license key ?
...
Device_Management_License_20xx.....key...
Device_Management_License_20xy.....key...
...
- Delete the old license key file with the following command (Note: The Tab key can be used to auto-complete the file name.)
> delete license key <license name>
- Confirm the deletion by executing the following command and the old or expired license should no longer be listed.
> request license info
- Retrieve license key from Internet:
- Option1: Using the Web UI:
2. Select the retrieve license
- Option2: Fetch the licenses using the following CLI command:
> request license fetch
