After adding two 2TB logging disks on Panorama VM on Panorama mode disk details for sdc shows Status: Unavailable Reason: Admin disabled

Symptom


  • Out of two disks, sdc shows status as unavailable, and reasons admin disabled
    admin@Panorama> show system disk details
    Name   : sdb
    State  : Present
    Size   : 2048000 MB 
    Status : Available
    Reason : Admin enabled
    Name   : sdc
    State  : Present
    Size   : 2048000 MB 
    Status : Unavailable 
    Reason : Admin disabled


Environment


  • Panorama VM in Panorama mode
  • PAN-OS 10.1 and above


Cause


When attaching a virtual logging disk to the Panorama virtual appliance instance, Manual configuration of each disk is needed.

Resolution


  1. Run the CLI command (Step 5c) listed on the Panorama  and confirm the request when prompted for all disks with the Reason: Admin disabled  response:
>request system disk add sdc
  1. Enter the "show system disk details"  command to verify the status of the disk addition.
  2. Proceed with the next steps listed in the Panorama administrator Guide.
