Symptom


  • System logs (show log system) report "Memory lmt exceeds" messages as below
04:55:01 high resctrl mem-lim 0 027107000590 Memory lmt exceeds. cgroup_name non-critical memsw_limit_in_bytes 67868033024 memsw_usage_in_bytes 64476717056
05:04:59 high resctrl mem-lim 0 027107000590 Memory lmt exceeds. cgroup_name critical memsw_limit_in_bytes 68182605824 memsw_usage_in_bytes 64774004736


Environment


  • Panorama M-300 and M-700 Series
  • PAN-OS 10.2.x


Cause


This is a false alarm and can be safely ignored.

 


Resolution


  1. The issue has been fixed under PAN-215082 where the false alarm messages are removed.
  2. This fix is included in PAN-OS 10.2.8,  11.0.2,  11.1.0 and higher versions.
  3. Upgrade can be done to remove the messages
