Error message: "The User-ID Agent service on the local computer started and then stopped"

Symptom


  • When trying to restart the User-ID Agent service on Windows Server, the following error message is displayed.
The User-ID Agent service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.

Environment


  • User-ID Agent
  • Windows Server (or Windows PC in the same Domain)


Cause


The service account does not have permission to "logon as a service" on Windows Server (or PC) where the agent is installed.

Resolution


  1. Enable 'logon as a service' option as shown below.
