PanGPS Service is not running/missing in Windows

Symptom


  • PanGPS service on windows is not starting.
  • CLI command netstat -an | find "4767" shows syn sent status and the GPA failed to connect to PanGPS.
  • The process PanGPS service is not visible in Task Manager >Services.


Environment


  • GlobalProtect (GP) App on Windows
  • App version 6.2.1


Resolution


  1. Run "sc query PanGPS" on the client machine to verify the status of PanGPS service.
  2. If you service is not running, Open the command prompt as an administrator and run the following commands.
> cd "C:\Program Files\Palo Alto Networks\GlobalProtect" 
> PanGPS.exe -commit
  1. This command will install the PanGPS service in windows services.
