Can PA VM firewalls be upgraded using Azure Virtual Machine Scale Set?

Environment


  • PA-VM Firewalls on Azure
  • Supported PANOS

Answer


  1. Azure Virtual Machine Scale Set cannot be used to upgrade PA-VM Firewalls
  2. Microsoft Azure KB provides information on which images are supported. 
  3. The Supported OS images  does not mention Palo Alto network images.

Additional Information


The suggested way to update the VM Azure firewall is to use Panorama Azure plugin.
