What is the minimum number of FAN units required to power on PA-5450 firewall?
Environment
- Palo Alto PA-5450 Firewall
- PAN-OS 10.1.0 and above
- FAN Units
Answer
- Three FAN unit (PA-5450-FAN) are required to power on PA-5450 system.
- Four FAN units are strongly recommended to provide redundancy in case one of the FAN units suddenly fails.
- The unit will not power on when just FAN units are in working condition.
- When the system is working correctly and fan fails. A system log is generated and the firewall will power down by itself if two out of four FAN units are not functional or missing from the chassis.
