Symptom

  • Ethernet1/1 (secondary interface) does not receive Gateway information via DHCP

Eth1_Panorama.png

Environment

  • Panorama VM on Azure.
  • Supported PAN-OS.

Cause

  1. By default, secondary network adapters (eth1 in this case)  are not configured to have a default gateway.
  2. Therefore, the traffic flow on the secondary adapter will be limited to the same subnet.
  3. Reference: Make sure that the second network adapter is enabled to talk outside the subnet.

Resolution

Panorama does not support configuring route entry and so the following two workarounds can be used.

  1. Set subnet of Panorama eth1 same as the Firewall.
  2. Put a router in front of Panorama, to do the packet routing. Panorama exits the traffic from the eth1 (without the default gateway).
