How to remove Uninstalled GlobalProtect from Windows Control Panel

Symptom


GlobalProtect sometimes remains in "Add or Remove Programs" on Windows even after upgrade to new version or uninstall.

 



Environment


  • GlobalProtect App
  • Windows 


Cause


This issue happens when the key for uninstallation remains in the registry.



Resolution


  1. Search for GlobalProtect under the following key using Registry Editor.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\]

  1. The key should look like below. (The number/alphabet combination differs in the last {} )

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{123456AB-1234-1ABC-1234-123456789012}]

  1. Please make sure the following are correct.
    • DisplayName : GlobalProtect
    • DisplayVersion : The version which you have already uninstalled and want to remove from Control Panel
  1. After above confirmation, Delete the key and reboot the system.
  2. The GlobalProtect entry is now removed from the Control Panel.
