Question
When GlobalProtect client fails to connect, GlobalProtect log may contain the error "ST,open process failed" repeatedly in PanGPS.log. What does the error mean?
Environment
- GlobalProtect
- GlobalProtect version 5.1, 5.2
- Windows OS
Answer
According to the log, the PanGPS service is trying to open the process to split tunnel but failing. This is an indication of an issue with the third party software preventing the split tunneling from occurring. So, there exist three potential options that can be done to resolve this, as follows:
- It could be that the PanGPS service does not have the required permission to make necessary changes. Try re-installing the client as an administrator,
- Check for any third party software that may be preventing or blocking the service.
- With that, a re-image of the desktop could be a viable option if necessary.
