Symptom


  • Commit causes the " Validation Error: no UUID found for rule ..." message.
Validation Error: no UUID found for rule rule1
  • This error is usually seen when  removing a firewall from Panorama and make the firewall config local as per the KB link below:

Environment


  • Any Palo Alto A Firewall
  • PAN-OS 8.1,9.0,9.1

Cause


When the Firewall is removed from Panorama and the config is made local to the Firewall, the UUID does not get imported from Panorama
 

Resolution


 Perform the following steps to fix the issue: 
  1. Save named configuration snapshot (not the Candidate Config).  
           save named config                                                                                                                                                

     2. Load the saved configuration snapshot, select the flags to re-generate UUID click OK.   
                                                                                                                                          
           Regeberate UUIDs

      3. Commit the configuration.
